Zachariah Singh was born into a family of musicians, singers and writers. Even though he graduated  in engineering, he was destined to a creative path. Zachariah learnt tabla (Delhi Gharana) through the traditional Guru Shishya tradition. He has performed on television, radio and stage. In addition to this, he has also collaborated with classical western and eastern artists.

The move towards tabla teaching started after numerous requests from family and friends. Zachariah met many children who were taught the wrong techniques, from teachers with questionable credentials. He felt that the lack of ethics towards children’s Indian music education was not acceptable. His drive, enthusiasm and perfection for standards are what eventually led to the creation of The West London School of Tabla.

During the last 12 years, he has worked full time as a music teacher across various primary and secondary schools. This includes schools in the South East of England and across London. Such experience has given him the opportunity to truly understand how children learn tabla and has taught him how to apply teaching techniques that are appropriate to western pupils.

Zachariah's teaching quality has been further endorsed through regular Ofsted inspections and observations carried out by various School Music Services. His level of personal practice and music development is maintained by regularly visiting his guru in Mumbai. In essence, Zachariah brings depth in musical knowledge, experienced teaching and a passion for tabla.  These are the essential Ingredients for inspiring and developing children!
